Hakone in its 10^th Avataar celebrates its 15 years of roller coaster joy ride on the 3^rd of December 2012. Hakone derived from Harsh, Komal and Neha was conceptualized in the first week of March 1097 at the lucky Santacruz Office of Mr. Surendra. After a healthy 9 month incubation it took birth and was opened to the public on 3^rd December 1997. The response was spectacular- on the first New Year eve there was a long queue to enter Hakone on the first floor of Galleria where now we have Kareems and its family. The meticulously designed interiors by Thadani Hetzel had a grand impact on the spirit of Hakone. The simulators, redemption and gift machines were the best in India.

The popularity of Hakone  spread so fast that Powai and Hiranandani which were already synonymous included Hakone as its pet name. Within a short time a second Hakone was started at the First floor of Galleria B wing where we have now, the ICICI Bank Then followed the other avatars at Mini Land, Mini Golf and Go Karting- Rock Climbing was also added. The grand new Avataar at the Haiko Mall  added Bowling to the crown jewels. The Thane Residents saw Hakone at Powai and took it to Hiranandani Estate and Hiranandani Meadows. Today in its 10^th Avataar it has moved to the new premises opposite Nirvana Park where Go Karting joined in after relinquishing its glorious heights on the hill. Hakone has been lucky for all. We hope that the 11^th avataar including Bowling comes fast after clearing some minor hurdles for location. Pray that Hakone once again re-enters Thane in a big way with Go Karting and Bowling- as the Thane Population has now achieved the Minimum Critical Mass to not only sustain the venture but also to see it grow to greater heights. There is ample scope in Thane to include Boating in a professional way. May we be blessed with the 11^th and 12^th avatars at Thane.

Battle the enemy in a real simulated field with barriers and hideouts, the mask and safety jackets save you from the plastic bullets. The bullets are plastic encapsulation filled with edible oil with edible color dye. Beware of flying objects too.

Bull Ride-

The only place where people rejoice when someone falls- of course on a safe cushion= The bull is furious but sensitive and gives you 3 chances to stick to him. It is tough and almost impossible but most enjoyable.

Now: Hakone, situated next to Powai Plaza has ‘Bumper Cars’, Paintball, Zorb, Dirt Bike track, a restaurant and a set of arcade games re-installed from the old establishment.

To get a better idea of what Hakone has to offer now, here is a list of activities that you can indulge in.

Coin Operated Arcade Games: You can never be too old to race, shoot a basket/terrorist, smack a crocodile or try to pick up a free bunny at the arcade parlor. With a maximum of two coins to be inserted in each machine, you can race with three of your friends in the ‘Victory Lap’.

You also have the option of going solo on the Alpine Racer or the Aqua Jet, where you have to maneuver the machine to navigate through the forest and the water, respectively. For those who enjoy target practice, Megalo50, Innocent Sweeper and Silent Scope 2 will give you and your friend a chance to play against the evil guys.

Paintball: An adventure sport similar to Counter Strike, Paintball has gained immense popularity in India. It is a team sport and is best enjoyed when it is played with 12 people or more. Players are required to play with pellets that can be purchased at the venue. The cost for 100 pellets is Rs.600 per person. A refill of 50 pellets is charged at Rs.250/- The outfit and gear is provided by the management.

Zorbing: Go crazy in a big ball! Zorbing allows you to enter a giant ball and be pushed around a specified path. The cost for one round is Rs.100 per person.

Dirt Bikes: Though the track is under construction, it is scheduled to open up very soon. You can take on 3 laps for Rs.200 per person.
